Volunteering is a national demand, a human necessity and an essential pillar for building and enhancing social solidarity in developed countries. The importance of volunteerism stems in the motivation of citizen`s sense of belonging to his community and homeland, where he/she can provide all required help and services.

Youth shall be habituated to the sense of giving and philanthropy, applying their belief and what they attain of principles and ethics. They will also acquire useful skills and merits through such practical contribution.

Impacts on Volunteers

  2. Internal rewards such as social recognition, self-esteem.

Health benefits (The report (cooperation for national and community service) summarizes the impressive findings from a number of studies that have explored the relationship between volunteering and health. While these studies may differ in terms of their specific findings, they consistently demonstrate that there is a significant relationship between volunteering and good health; when individuals volunteer, they not only help their community but also experience better health in later years, whether in terms of greater longetivity, higher functional ability, or lower rates of depression.)

Volunteers are Important to An-Nahl

  • According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Civil Society Studies 2011, approximately 140 million people in the 37 countries engage in volunteer works in a typical year. If those 140 million volunteers comprised the population of a country, it would be the 9th largest country in the world. Those 140 million volunteers represent the equivalent of 20.8 million full-time equivalent jobs. It‘s estimated that volunteers contribute around $400 billion to the global economy annually.
  • Many young muslim are graduate and stays for long time without getting hired. Its estimated that in Tanzania there are more than 1,000,000 (one million) graduates every year and only 25% who get employed, so giving them chance to volunteer at An-Nahl will assist them in getting employability skills and enter in the job market or having skills to employ themselves and create jobs for others.
  • Many An-Nahl members are volunteers to An-Nahl for more than twenty years, so many have been volunteered without following proper guidelines.
